Tracking works. Until it doesn't.
Signal jamming, power disruption, and physical removal can interrupt the normal data path — the moment a tracking device stops communicating is often the moment the truth becomes hardest to establish. Stats SA's 2024/25 GPSJS estimated ~77,000 motor-vehicle theft incidents affecting ~62,000 households; SAPS recorded 30,298 vehicle/motorcycle thefts over the same period. Different measures, same direction: the problem is material.
The market is already responding — AutoTrader reported in June 2026 that certain high-risk vehicle categories now face requirements for two independent tracking devices. Redundancy is the industry's answer. Ours is different: what happened to the vehicle when nobody was monitoring it?
§02 — WHY SENTINEL EXISTS
A complementary layer, not another tracker
Sentinel is an ultra-thin target-form-factor device — thinner than any competitor's publicly confirmed dimensions — designed to sit alongside existing tracking infrastructure, not compete with it. Self-powered, no vehicle wiring cut during install, so deployment doesn't void OEM warranty. It captures local event data during signal loss, secures it, and relays a structured report once communication returns.

Built with the ecosystem, not around it
Distribution runs primarily through tracking-partner relationships rather than direct-to-insurer sales, consistent with how the insurance and tracking ecosystem is structured today.

Export strategy targets markets with the same overlap: vehicle-loss risk, tracking adoption, and a comparable failure state.
